Gotta love a brisk winter day when the playground is empty.
I much as I prefer kids having a great time on the equipment and their parents watching over them, sometimes it’s just plain fun to shoot an empty playground.
With a deep covering of snow, no footprints or disturbances in the snow and an overcast sky, I explored the 50-foot long space to see what might be photogenic.

To make my discoveries more interesting, I limited myself to an iPhone and Droid, two of the smart phones I use.
I anticipated the main content would be shapes, colors, contrasts and the irony of snow on playground equipment.

None of the photos will win any awards. Nor will they become part of an art exhibit. They might become part of a stock photo collection with hopes they’ll be used for some obscure story on playgrounds and snow.
All the photos would be enhanced by being shot with a 12-mega-pixel digital SLR with super-sharp lenses. However, the content would remain the same and the limitations of the lower-res, fixed focal length smart phones cameras made me explore the subjects differently.
